A website for Trackmania related apps and tools
This website has been made to share any Trackmania related apps and tools that I have developed.
This website is currently home to the COTD Elo ranking, a chess like Elo-ranking that is calculated on division 1 results of all COTD's.
For now, this is the only thing that this website shows, but I'm planning on adding quite a bit more.

About Elo ranking
A chess like Elo-ranking for COTD
In chess, all players are rated by their Elo-rating.
If a player wins against someone with a lower Elo, their rating increases slightly.
If they win against a player with a higher rating, their rating increases significantly.
While chess is played 1v1, this system can also be applied to Trackmania's COTD.
This can be done by matching every player in a division against the other 63 players in a 1v1.
By calculating the Elo change for every 1v1 matchup in a division, a total Elo change can be determined for a COTD result.
This Elo-ranking shows the resulting Elo for all players after taking into account all division 1 results of the main COTD.
Only players that have played at least 25 COTD's in division 1, and have at least 5 division 1 appearances in the last 75 days, will appear in this leaderboard.
These limits have been set so that every player has competed in a large enough amount of matches to be able to reliably determine their Elo.
The 5 recent division 1 appearances guarantee that a player is currently active so that the listed Elo ratings are currently accurate.
The leaderboard does not show the exact Elo-ratings, but a rating that has been converted to a value between 0 and 100.
Players that have the same rating in the leaderboard are actually still ordered by their exact Elo rating.
A player at position 8 with rating 86 is thus likely to be higher rated than a player at position 9 with the same rating.
The change column shows how much Elo a player has gained or lost with their last COTD result.
The leaderboard updates every day at COTD+1.
You might notice that some well known players are quite low on the ranking and vice versa.
This is because the rating system rewards consistently high finishes.
If a player for example qualifies for division 1, but chooses not to play rounds, they are classified as last and thus lose a lot of points.
If a player finishes consistently in the top 8/16, they are likely to appear towards the top 10 of this leaderboard rather quickly, even if they haven't won a COTD.
There are some criticisms for using a Elo rating like this for COTD results. For example, a small amount of COTD's can have wrong results due to events like server crashes.
Some players might only play on map styles that suit them very well, thus causing their Elo-rating to not give an overall indication of their skill.
The minimum of 5 recent results has also been applied to avoid listing such players that only play specific maps.
Another disadvantage is that players are not penalised for qualifying in lower divs.
